Local Impact:
- Ethnicity - Different ethnic groups have different attitudes to technology. Many deprived areas of large cities have high numbers of people in differing ethnic groups. This may have an effect on wealth and education. Some religions oppose to the use of technology as it can bring about corruption within the religion. This mostly takes place in people who are more practising than other people within that religion or ethnicity. Some religions such as Islam fear the the extent that technology has reached an the potential of what it can reach because they think that the content that is available on the Internet now can affect vulnerable people and there some explicit content on the Internet that can be found which may go against the rules of Islam and they can't do anything about it. There has been considerable amount of research on how commodification and the Internet are transforming the religious lives of young people. For young Muslims, Internet use is an important means of building a consensus about, for example, whether the use of henna for cosmetic purposes is compatible with Muslim tradition or whether dating and premarital intimacies are compatible with the life of a “good Muslim.”
