Disadvantages:
- You don’t actually know how the product looks like for a used time on auction and often sellers may perceive you. There is always a risk on buying second items from auction because sometimes people can deceive you into buying something faulty or that has been cosmetically damaged.
- If the item is popular then there may many buyers bidding and the final price can go way over the RRP and make the product expensive make no use of buying from an auction sale.
- On some websites you have to pay for the bids and you’re not always guaranteed to be the winning bidder and could end up wasting money and not winning anything.
- Poor listings: some listings can be very vague and also just have one image which is clear enough to help you determine if you should place a bid on the item.
- You can become a victim of fraud as you could be the winning bidder and still not receive the product and end up on losing out on money. Sometimes a person can a have mindset that they want to win that product through auction not realising that they may be overpaying for something they could be cheaper elsewhere. [22]
