Disadvantages:
- To store large amounts of data on the Internet can be costly as there is only a limited amount of space on web storage services. This depends entirely on how much data you want to save on the data on the Internet. Things Like G drive offer at least 9GB of storage data which should enough for most people unless you want to save 100’s of GB’s of data, then it will be expensive. [25]
- The storage server is always at risk of being hacked and all your personal data being their available for other people to see which you may not want them to see. A lot of these web storage server are vulnerable of hacking due to their security systems except for one or two web storage services such as G drive.(Google drive)
- If you forget your user name and password then there is a long process you have to go through to be able access your account which contains your file and you may not always have the time to go through the process and this can be an issue.
- The website may be down for maintenance at some point and you really need that file but you can’t access it as the website isn't active. If this occasion does arrive and you really need your stored data then you can be in trouble because these maintenance can take up to several hours.
