ICT in the classroom:
the introduction of the interactive white board into the school classroom has enabled teachers to develop and use interactive presentations and demonstrations to support learning. students are able to engage with the presentations and demonstrations by taking an active role by, for example, moving objects on the white board to their correct location
the aspect can be applied on the screen: students can move objects or control work areas using a touch screen. this is especially beneficial for kinesthetic learners.
internet, online and on-screen resources often come with the internal assessment and tracking systems that enable the students and teachers to see how learning is progressing. this internal assessment allows for built in flexibility where the pace of learning is managed by the learner. these systems are often referred to as computer-based training (CBT) or computer assisted learning.
such ict learning systems can enable the personalisation of learning. students can be directed along, or can follow their own choice of, learning pathways suited either to their own learning needs, or to their personal learning interests.
